Tagyu API ideas

Freshness Warning
This blog post is over 17 years old. It's possible that the information you read below isn't current and the links no longer work.

There are a number of things that I’d like to do with Tagyu but can’t, simply because there aren’t enough hours in the day. But since there’s an API, anyone can create Tagyu-based tools. So LazyWeb, is there anyone who wants to take on a project or two?

  • Take the Tagyu API, TypePad’s Atom API, and a feed parser and pull them together as a TypePad autotagger. Use the Atom API to grab the text of a TypePad post and pass it to Tagyu. Then use the Atom API again to update the post with the new tags. To find out about new items, watch the blog’s feed.
  • Create a plugin for your favorite blogging tool that inserts Tagyu tags as keywords.
  • Tag your town with Google Maps, GeoURL, and Tagyu. Plot blogs on Google Maps by using GeoURL data. run the text of recent entries through Tagyu. Add the resulting tags back onto Google Maps and let people find other cities with the same tags.
  • Create a Tag sale with Amazon Web Services or the Ebay API. Use Tagyu to discover tags for products and build a tagged affiliate store. Customers can browse by tag to find new products.
  • Push keywords into your Yahoo ads with the Yahoo Advertiser API and Tagyu. Push your ad links through Tagyu to get tags and save those as keywords for your ad.
  • Use the above-mentioned Google Maps/GeoURL mashup to add keywords for Yahoo’s local advertising
  • Run your advertising keywords through the Yahoo Search API and the Google Search API and then run each of the resulting links through Tagyu to come up with other keywords that you might want to advertise under.

There’s seven ideas. How about some of your own?
