Mefi Datamining
23 Jan 2008
Bill Zeller, my co-conspirator on Zempt and the Button Maker, has put together a nifty tool for mining the recently released MeFi metadata.
You can run arbitrary sql against the data set, and Bill provides some one-click examples that show what you can do. From the examples, we learn that the thread on Pastor Ted Haggard’s gay relationship has the most comments ever. The page on MeFi weighs in at 1.7 MB just to download it.
Or that Karen has the most average comments per post with 492 per post. She only has one post, though.
There’s some fun stuff you can do with the data without having to download it all yourself.
