There’s a huge fire going near South Lake Tahoe right now. I’m supposed to be camping near Lake Tahoe next week, and I’ve been watching the progress of the fire carefully. I just found the Forest Service’s InciWeb database of forest fires, complete with an RSS feed for specific incidents, detailed data about the status of the fire, contact information for controlling agencies, a Google Maps mashup, and Digg and del.icio.us buttons.

Neat.

Here’s the information page for the Angora fire near Tahoe.

The home page even has a quick overview of all the wildfires around the country and their status.
