Extending Wireless through the powerline

Freshness Warning
This blog post is over 21 years old. It's possible that the information you read below isn't current and the links no longer work.

Since my office (and wireless AP) is in one corner of the house, my wireless connection to the other corner of the house can be slow and unreliable. Products I’ve investigated for extending the range have been expensive and difficult to manage. But the Tom’s Hardware review of the Siemens SpeedStream SS2521 Powerline 802.11b Wireless Access Point sounds promising. Plug it into the wall and plug an ethernet to powerlint bridge into your network, and instant wireless extension.

The star of this review will be Siemens' SpeedStream 2521 Powerline Wireless Access Point, but I’ll also touch on their 2502 Powerline Ethernet Adapter, which I used to bridge my Ethernet router to the powerline for testing.

I just posted on my experience with this product. It is a great solution for your problem. http://joe.weblog.or.id/2003/02/06.html#a601

I have a powerline network with a wireless receiver/transmittor in my family room connected to my laptop wireless. It worked fine for 6-8 weeks but now it cycles connected for 10-11 seconds the disconnected for 4 seconds. I also have a TiVo on the same wireless network and it always seems to work fine. I had the laptop exchanged but still have the same problem. That leads me to believe it is a problem with XP-Pro. Any thoughts?
