I’ve been meaning to learn Java for some time now, but I just haven’t had the time to get into it. I’m thinking of trying Robocode, a game in which you build battling robots in Java. The idea behind Robocode is that you learn by doing something fun. You start off with simple robots and progress until you are building intelligent, custom robots. Anyone tried this?

I sent that site to one of my coworkers a while back, because we do a lot of java here. Also his son is in the gifted program and participates in robot competitions. I'll see if he ever got around to playing with the site and let you know.
