A new law in California (where I live) allows people to have their names placed on a statewide do-not-call list. Starting January 1, 2003, telemarketers that call people on this list will be fined up to $1000 per violation. It costs you a dollar to register your name and number with the Attorney General’s office, but that keeps our name on the list for 3 years.
