Users of Internet Explorer and Windows that do a lot of searching on the Web should take a look at Dave’s Quick Search for your task bar. It installs a tiny text box on your task bar (the thing between your Start button and the clock where buttons for your active programs appear). From this text box, you can search Google, Yahoo, Altavista or other search engines. You can also look up phone numbers, stock quotes, street maps, word definitions and dozens of other things on the web.
It’s free, open source, fast, and unobtrusive. It is as close as I’ve seen to the perfect search tool. [via WebWord]
