Polar Bear book authors Louis Rosenfeld and Peter Morville took a look at Microsoft’s intranet and how they solved the same challenges in MSWeb: An Enterprise Intranet #1 over at Boxes and Arrows.
Challenges that Microsoft faced were huge numbers of pages (over 3.1 million) distributed over many Web servers all with different navigation schemes and different ways of labeling content. Rosenfeld and Morville examine the different techniques that the MS intranet team used to bring this content under control.
