IIS lockdown
7 Nov 2001
Businesses running IIS as a Web server need to have effective procedures to secure the server. That’s in large part because the IIS installer uses the "kitchen sink" approach. Everything gets installed, users get created in NT, and services are started that you would never use.
There are many tools available to help you set things straight, and eWeek has a roundup or some of them. Tools reviewed range from free utilities from Microsoft that should be part of IIS by default, to enterprise tools with central administration.
