Limewire goes open source

Freshness Warning
This blog post is over 22 years old. It's possible that the information you read below isn't current and the links no longer work.

The Limewire Gnutella client is now an open source project. "By going open source, Lime Wire LLC hopes to enable future Gnutella research and development projects to break new ground without the need to rewrite the core message passing and file sharing code that we have built."

Take a look at limewire.org for source code and developer documentation.
