Lawrence Lessig is creating a set of licenses for software developers, artists, and writers to freely use. Creative Commons will provide pre-written legal licenses that allow people to release their intellectual property to the public without completely losing control of it.
One thing I would like to see is plain English descriptions of what the license entails. I’ve met many developers that have released code under one of the open-source licences like GPL or BSD without fully understanding what it meant to do so.
