CDMax

Years ago I had a great freeware CD player that ran in the Windows system tray. It automatically got track listings from the Web, had a simple interface, and did smart things like opening the CD tray if I launched the player without a CD in the computer. But alas, something happened and I lost it. Couldn’t remember the app’s name, either. For the last few weeks I’ve been poking around trying to find it again on software download sites and through Google, which is tough when you don’t know the software’s name.

Today I found it again. Clark Tisdale’s CDMax is about as close to perfection as you can get. It does one thing and does it very well. And now that I’ve mentioned it on my blog, I’ll never lose it again.

I used to have a great Windows CD Player that was similar to what you described here - it was part of the Microsoft Power Tools package that I downloaded from the web. It was GREAT!

Checkout Notify CD on http://hassard.net it lives in the SysTray and does the full CDDB ( FreeDB ) lookup.
